I have two pairs of black shoes I wear when I preach. One is a pair of very shiny, very showey dress shoes, and the other is a pair of dull black shoes with the soles of workboots on them.
As I got dressed to preach this morning about healing the brokenness in this world in the aftermath of the attack upon the Tennessee Valley UU Church in Knoxville last Sunday, the thought came to my mind… “This is not a morning for shiny shoes… If there was ever a morning for me to wear my shoes with the workboot soles… this is that morning.”
Yours in Faith,
David
Ah, good post – gave me something decent to read while I am bored at work. I’ll have to check your site out more often 🙂 Thanks!
